Weekend Over

After a fun weekend of drinking non-stop, ass-slapping, and getting nut checked, it was time to return to the norms of my everyday lifestyle. Decided to hit the gym Tuesday to try and burn off some weekend empty calories. While on the crosstrainer machine about 20 minutes into my workout, I felt like I hit wall and my body shut down. I forced myself to finish the workout and promptly sucked about a gallon of water from the drinking fountain. The rest of my working was basically going through the motions to say i went to the gym. Wha and I are attempting to put together "the best CD ever" of classic rock, but we find ourselves constantly re-categorizing songs and the list has turned into about 5 different discs. One for classic rock from the 70's, 80's rock including big hair bands, southern rock, late 80's/90's, and an "other" CD full of good old music that really doesnt fit any one genre. This idea is going to take much longer to come full circle than I had first planned.

Comments:
Just locate Blue Spandex, and all will be well.

Slow Ride has to make the CD. So does Stairway to Heaven. and the original version of Layla. I better go now, I'm getting too into this.

For starters Blue Spandex is MIA and nice weather is crushing the scenery at the gym.
The first too are already slated for the 60's/70's disc. This thing is turning into a box set. Layla may go but we are sticking with upbeat music so it may get the axe in the end. We are trying to stick with music you wouldn't jsut stick the entire CD in (CCR, James Taylor, etc) because we have tons of classic rock. We are looking for definitive songs, not necessarily bands. Something you would sit in your car in your parking space at home or before you walked in to work, just to finish listening to it on the radio.

I don't know that I would suggest upbeat music, but something uptempo. Is there actually a difference? I think so. Upbeat makes you feel good. Uptempo moves along well. I would nix anything that is too slow, ie Stairway.

Nobrainer, have you forgotten about the riff in Stairway about halfway through the song. "And as we wind on down the road...", definitely not slow. Since Led Zeppelin was ranked as the number 1 rock band of all time, we feel compelled to include their timeless classic on the CD.

so along with the entire AC/DC Collection what else will be on it?!

The song lists will be posted at a later time for you to critque then be scoffed at.

So this is becoming more of a JDGA soundtrack more than anything it seems? Post the songs, critique, reformulate, drink more Jack...rinse and repeat as needed.

One Bourben, One Scotch, One Beer.
Thoroughgood

No, not really a JDGA list. It's our list and we will be editing as we feel appropriate. Feel free to include songs you feel worthy when the lists are posted. They may or may not be considered. One Boubon...was already on the "others" list. We will psot and if it's something you would want a copy of, we may hook up the first 1.678 callers. We are only really posting to get feedback on songs left out. We will list specific CD's and bands to save your fingers the effort on some.
